What is CRP?

The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is a voluntary program administered by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA). CRP encourages farmers to remove environmentally sensitive land from agricultural production and plant species that improve environmental quality. The long-term goal is to restore valuable land cover, enhance water quality, reduce soil erosion, and promote wildlife habitats. Contracts for land enrolled in CRP last 10 to 15 years, providing both environmental and financial benefits.
